The people who’ve built AI — teaching you to do the same.
Hauraki AI Institute was founded on a simple frustration: too many people are learning artificial intelligence from those who’ve never actually built it. We decided to change that.
Our story
For over 30 years, we’ve worked in the tech industry — and for more than 10 of those, at the front lines of artificial intelligence, back when it was hard, unglamorous, and years from the headlines.
We spent those years building and deploying real AI systems, and solving the messy, real-world problems that don’t show up in a tutorial. That’s the experience behind every course here — and it’s the reason we teach AI the way it’s actually practiced, not the way it’s repackaged secondhand.
Along the way, we kept noticing the same thing. The demand to learn AI was exploding — but the teaching hadn’t kept up. Course after course was being assembled by people who’d discovered the field months earlier, handing every student the same generic videos and wishing them luck. People were paying real money to learn AI that was already outdated, from instructors who’d never actually shipped it.
So we built the school we wish had existed.
What we believe
AI should be taught the way it’s practiced.
Not as abstract theory, but as the practical, hands-on skill it actually is — the way we learned it, by building real things.
Learning should adapt to you.
No two students arrive with the same background or goals, so no two students should get the same path. That belief is why AI runs through everything we do — from the quiz that recommends your certification, to the tutor that answers your questions the moment you’re stuck, to a portal built around you rather than a one-size-fits-all playlist.
A credential should mean something.
Your assignments and capstone are graded because a certificate is only worth what it proves. When you finish, you’ll have work you can point to — not just a video count.
Experience should be in the room.
You’re not learning from people who read about this last year. You’re learning from people who spent careers doing it.
Built by people who’ve shipped it
Hauraki was founded by a team with 30+ years in the tech industry and more than a decade spent building and deploying real AI systems — long before it was the thing everyone talked about.
We’re keeping our names offstage while we launch, but the experience behind every course is real. It’s the reason this is taught the way AI is actually practiced — hands-on, current, and grounded in work that shipped — rather than repackaged from someone else’s tutorial.
You don’t have to take our word for it. Take the quiz, start a course, and see how it’s built.

We built Hauraki to be the AI education we wish we’d had. Take the quiz, find your path, and see what learning from real experience feels like.
